Learning From The Best

On this chilly Sunday, we had an amazing time with the members from our sister club, Canning Vale Toastmasters. We invited them to our venue to share a morning of celebration as we joined Toastmasters International and members from around the world at the International Convention in California, USA, via a virtual link.

This year the convention was held in the birthplace of Toastmasters, California, USA, where Dr. Ralph Smedley officially established Toastmasters in 1924. 100 years on, what a celebration! I’m sure he would be proud of how we have evolved and prospered.

We explored Toastmasters’ fascinating history and enjoyed the excitement of the ‘World Championship of Public Speaking Semi Finals’. It was a perfect blend of learning and inspiration, watching the very best in action. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ†

This experience was all about โ€œlearning by doingโ€ โ€” seeing top-notch speakers showcase their skills gave us fresh insights and boosted our own communication, public speaking, and leadership abilities. ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ™Œ

We also had an opportunity to judge the contestants to see how we measured up against the official judges decision. We did an amazing job, which holds us in good stead as we head into the new contest season in September.

A big thanks to all the members who brought amazing food to share. There’s always great food at our events! This was a fantastic session that pushed us all to be better speakers, judges and leaders.

Are we ready to put these new skills into action? Yes we are! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ“ฃ

Robyn showed us how a speaker progresses to the pinnacle of public speaking, The World Championship of Public Speaking. Before competing in the District Final a speaker progresses from club to area to division for the opportunity to represent their club at district level. Then there are 2 more levels before the pinnacle. A long and arduous journey.
